Media Share and older PC

I just finished setting up Media Share, it works, however, it's fairly slow to respond to my inputs from the remote.  Is this normal, or is it b/c the computer I have my media files stored on is 8 1/2 years old.  It's a fine computer, just old.

Here's my specs:

Computer:

Windows XP Home

.75 MB RAM

Media Player 11

Netgear router is hardwired via Cat5 directly to both my DVR's.  One DVR is an HR20-100 and the other is a HR22-100.  I also have the whole-home DVR set up this way, not supported by DTV.

Like I said, Media Share seems to work once it gets going, it just takes a very long time to set up and then get going.  Is it my computer?

I don't think so.  The playback uses your Windows Media Player as a server but the sorting etc is done on the DVR.  If you have a long list of data, it takes the DVR a bit of time to sort the list etc.

The associated feature, Directv2PC, is a horse of a different color, it's a computer hog and it takes a pretty hardy machine to handle playback of 1080i resolution programming.

My wife works in the health care industry, early to bed early to rise for this one.

dcd,

Gotta watch that health care industry.....it'll kill you(13 years in IT on Tennessee's "Tenncare"/Medicaid system caused my double bypass surgery). Just make sure the wife doesn't make you conform to Greenwich Mean Time for your daily schedule:0)
