Media Share does not appear on my Direct TV menu
I am running a Dell computer with XP and Windows Media Center 11. Am hooked up wireless and when I run the program it says
that everything is OK. I tried to set up my computer using the instructions on the Direct TV page but the insructions must be from
outer space. I need step by step instructions as I must be missing something.

Press and hold the info button on your remote, then select more system info. Scroll down and confirm that Internet shows as connected. If not, post back. If yes, proceed.
On your computer open Windows Media Player version 11 (Media Center is not used) and forgive me if the instructions are not exact, it's been a while since I did XP. Click tools -> options -> library -> configure for sharing -> all of the icons should be checked to allow sharing. Go to your firewall and temporarily disable it. Make sure you don't have two running. Go to the HD DVR And do a red button reset. When boot up is complete, the music option should appear in the Menu.
Note that any time the computer is off, the option will disappear.

Internet is connected as well as network.
When clicking on the Library tab, it opens to topics and I am clicking on pictures, that opens another window that says Media Sharing. After I click on Share my media box, I click on OK and nothing happens, there are no additional windows from which it chose and the program does not respond.

There is a box on the right side of the library screen that you put a check in, then another screen opens.
Keep in mind that the network features Directv offers involves your personal computer and router, so you need to innovative. There are no hard and fast answers. Google returned this link for example.

rew3434,
When clicking on the library tab in WMP11, do NOT click on the Pictures in the dropdown instead immediately click on Media Sharing in the dropdown menu. Then follow user dcd's initial instructions for making sure you have WMP11 set up for sharing.
P.S.
You may also want to make sure you have the My Music, My Pictures and My Videos "folders" checked for file sharing(right click the folder and select sharing).

I am now thinking that maybe I have a router problem. I don't understand that so I may have to go without Media Share. Thanks for the help.

You apparently didn't read this thread. The OP has a XP version. Windows 7 doesn't use the "library" setup.
