Media share not available anymore
Until today I have always been able to access the media files on my pc thru my DTV receivers.I would click menu and there would be a selection saying"photos, music, video"Today that selection is not available on any of my 3 HDdvr boxes.I have had the same router for a year now and it has always allowed access to my pc from the dtv boxes.Any suggestions?

Okay, I'm a nube, but will take a shot...
Router could have problems if running the network wireless; age doesn't matter with them.
I am disabled and knock stuff loose all the time. Some time just a reboot works; can't hurt.(HD DVR & than PC's also.)
I have only had that disappearing selection problem with things that radically affect the PC or have them off.
Sorry I couldn't do more as that would surely tick me off too!
I suppose someone with better Media Share skills will be along shortly.
Good Luck!

Hmm... sounds software or permissions related, but if its not a hardware issue I can't think of anything right now. Truly a mystery here though too.
Perhaps one of the Media Share Wizards in this forum will solve it. (I need to know too now!)

Generally speaking if you play a song in Mediashare (so that program flow is active) and enable the firewall at the same time, the firewall will see the Mediashare as friendly and allow it.

I'd say you need to configure that firewall manually for the Windows Media Player process, I think its called wmpnetwk.exe.If you security suite has logging, look through there to see what parts are being blocked.
