Media Share player in the DVR

I have an HD-22-100. Windows XP, 3 PCs amd 2 Laptops on a LAN, with a Wireless N link @ 130mb speed to the DVR.
Windows Media Player 11 = WMP11
Playing Videos (mpg2)
Music MP3
Playlists from WMP11 . wpl files. SMIL syntax

A Master My Music My Playlist and MY Vidoes resides on one PC

I've have now read most of this forums threads and see that DirectV's Media Share software in the DVR reamains a mystery.
What follows is the start of a threaded whose Goal is to have DirecTV update thier player to deal with some customer freendly issues.

First the Player software and menus seem to be a big uncoumented mystery.
Some rreverse engineering was revealing.

My major premise is they should support/ mimic/ reflect the WPM functions by media type as a required baseline.

For Video this means Playlist supports:
Play All.
Shuffle

AND under the DVRs Menu - Computer/mycomputer/Videos/All Videos submen,.
Play Single
Play All
Shuffle

- When a title is selected to play single,, at its completion:
All videos on the list after the one selected are played in sequence

This same behaviour should work with Artist, Genre etc

Note: There is not differenence in the form of a WPL playlist file crated im WMP for a video or music playlist.

Testng with a mixed media files confirmed that the type of media that plays in a mixed music and Video (mp3 / mpg) WPL playlist is solely a function of the Directv Media Share menus, NOT the wpl file.

In the wpl file built by WMP, all the selected media is contained between trhe and tags.

Directv's Media Share must be written in SMIL and XML so this is ont rocket science.
Apparently this "Beta" version has been around over a year.
Why hasn't DirectV finished it?
And
Why is there no decent manual or web page of instrucions on this topic.?

Feel free to coment or add to this thread, and list other featrues we'd like to see.

MEDIA SHARE is a great feature to extend the etertainment experince and provide a media play venue for video lesson material. etc

Lets raise our VOICES and maybe they will take some action
