Most likely cure for error 13 when trying to setup Network for On Demand

Like most other threads related to this issue, I had been talking to DirecTV and my ISP trying to get a Network connection. I was caught between the "blame each other game" without the problem being resolved. I was using the direct wired method and knew that the Cat 5e was good becasue I could remove it from the DVR and connect to a laptop and it would work. I also had tested the Cat 5e with a Lan tester for continuity and it passed. We tried the Advanced setup and the error changed to a 22. I was more in agreement with The DirecTV tech that the problem was with the ISP by not being able to connect to the internet. Lights blinked at the router and the DVR, but didn't seem to get pass the router. The ISP had me to change multiple options to no avail and likewise with the DirecTV tech trying different setups. I was left hanging with still no Network connection. The next day I decided that I would try another cable and amazingly the Network connection came right up. By the way, I had done a Restore Default on the DVR. Apparently the Cat5e had a bad crimp or connector which was suppressing part of the voltage. The DVR must be more sensitive than a laptop; I don't know. Anyway I could not believe it, but that cured my problem, and hopefully will cure yours.
