Motorhome Use

I travel from time to time in my motorhome and use my home receivers.

Unlike Dish which uses an app, if I’m outside my normal service area I have to call DirectTv and spend 30-45 minutes in order to change my location to receive the locals.

Within the RV Community DirectTv has a very negative reputation while Dish is praised due to their app.

Can Directv please make this easier for their traveling customers?

Sorry but having to set up a separate account is the reason Dish is so popular with RV users.

Technically there is no reason to have to have two accounts; one for home and one for the RV.

I am a long Time DirectTv Customer and will do my best to stay. But someone in the DirectTv organization needs to better understand the RV community and needs.

Can you provide the name and contact information for someone with some “stoke” that I can communicate with? I can help her/him understand the loss DirectTv is giving up to Dish and I’m sure DirectTv can fix that and grow share in the RV Community.

Thanks,

There's nobody to contact. Clearly, AT&T doesn't really care about RV accounts anymore. The official answer is that you must have a separate account or a Travelers Account. Their new billing systems no longer support temporary service address changes, and that's not going to change. Dish Network will clearly pick up some RV'ers thanks to this.

But you can still have just one account as long as you don't have an HS17 Genie Server setup (since that only supports Mini Genie boxes). Just take one of your home account DVR/Receivers with you. The only disadvantage is you won't get local channels.

DTV was setup for residential and commercial use on stationary buildings, the RV dealers and dish makers where able to join in by DTV allowing them to set up RV accounts.

Well that means they will loose subscribers to Dish.

I don’t think AT&T brass will just be ok with market share loss in ANY segment.

considering directv does not service motor homes, i think they dont really care

throw in the server based system is not easy to move

then add in most rv's have a dish that wont work with mpeg4 feeds, that soon to be required

i dont think they care even less
