Network Bandwidth

I've got the HR23-700 HD DVR and I'm wondering what the throughput on the network port is.  I'm upgrading my home network from 10/100 Mbps fast ethernet to 1000 Mbps gigabit ethernet.  I'm wondering if this will improve download performance of the VOD service and the DIRECTV2PC application, or if the network interface on the receiver isn't fast enough to take advantage of the increased network bandwidth.
