unfortunately velocity is not new it is a re-branded HDTheater

That's true. All last week on any of the HD Theater, HD Hallmark, and several others had mentioned of the name change which took affect Oct 2nd.

So this channel is only in the HD lineup correct? That might explain why it doesn't show up in my channel lineup. I'm using a standard def dvr receiver.
Correct, there is no SD version of channel 281. This is true of only a few channels, most notable the HD Extra Pack (have no SD counterparts).
