new vizio issues
i just spent 2 hours on the phone talking to vizio and directV about my 797 message error. Does directv plan on fixing this issue? Customer service was very nice but lacked knowledge of 3D. Is the standard well enough defined to be purchasing 3D televisions at this point?

ESPN delivers a 720p top and bottom separation while the other channels seem to do 1080p side by side. It would seem the Visio can't handle that format and that's why it isn't on the supported list.

All I can say is I only have one 3D program saved, the CES 3D test series of clips, and it's 1080p.

Alex. I traded in my VIZIO for the Sony. All 3d channels work and you can watch other shows in 3d even if they weren't recorded in 3D. My kids like the Sony better. 2D picture I would say the VIZIO was better. 3D picture on Sony is sharper. I feel you get better support with Sony. Chears

Same here.. only the 1080i light is on, the DVR never lights up 720p and 1080i to indicate 1080p programming. Is there a firmware upgrade?

These are not just problems with VISIO TV's. I have a Panasonic tc-p65vt25 and I'm having some of the same issues. Had them out and they checked all, enve move my dish around and finally replaced my VTR (HR24/500) and sitll the problems are there. Wierd thing is that when I first setup the TV all worked. Then went back to play the 3D stuff I recorded so guest could see it and no go. Seems that Direct TV did a software update or something that is not right. Nothing else changed on my end and it just stopped working. Bad thing is that Panasonic is supposed to be dirving all of the programming and it won't work on their flagship TV. Hope they get their s t together soon.

True. I received my receiver on the 17th. The box automatically got the latest update. Got my new SONY connected it to DIRECTV no issue I have a new DVR HR22-100 not the HR-24. The one in the store that was working was the same receiver as mine. 3D worked great on the VIZIO as long as it wasn't 720P. Error code 797. There seems to be many issues with 3D. Not sure they are all the same. The question for VIZIO owners does DIRECTV support VIZIO sets? According to DIRECTV web site VIZIO is not supported. It would be nice if DIRECTV gave a list of TV they are working with to get certified. Interesting my SONY came with a DIRECTV advertisement. I didn’t see any with my VIZIO. I guess the question did anybody VIZIO ever work with a broadcast of 720P 3D? If so then the issue is something that DIRECTV changed. If not we can only assume that the TV was never supported in the 3D 720P mode. I believe DIRECTV owes it customer’s answers and an update on what they are doing to get this issue resolved. Nothing is an okay answer, but silence is not cool. Greywolf has the same comment

Alex. That sheds a new light on the issue. I never got the VIZIO to work on ESPN, but I bought my TV after the software update. My understanding was you never had it working on ESPN not that it stopped working. Certainly I understand your frustration with this issue. I hope they can get this issue resolved quickly. My concern is DIRECTV is not admitting they have a problem. I would have kept my VIZIO if it seemed like there was a quick fix. Good Luck
