nfl direct ticket game pausing problem

I just got direct tv Oct. 28th and today I ordered the nfl  ticket.  I was watching channel 710 Cowboys vs Lions I had paused it because I was in and out of the room cleaning.  It got down to about 4 minutes left, Kitna had just ran in for a touchdown, I walked into the kitchen and turned back and had a black screen.  I couldn't rewind go forward or anything.  I assume the game had ended, but why couldn't I finish watching it using the pause feature?  Shouldn't the pause feature save a certain amount of time on a hard drive or something? 

I have the HD Whole House DVR reciever.

Dish network lets me pause for two hours before it starts playing, and I can still fast forward through the show.
