What is the purpose for removing OAN in the near future? I'm inclined to change providers to keep access to OAN.

You're not along. More and more people are posting and calling DirectTv and AT&T (their parent company) to let their voices be heard. Last I heard, DirecTV was losing money hand over fist so they can't afford to lose more customers.
