Randomly finds receiver
I have had DIRECTV2PC installed for over a year. I have 2 HR24's. They each have a Linkysys WET610N. For my downstairs receiver I use an Ethernet hub because I have other equipment that connects to the internet (PS3, Roku, etc.). I have never been able to get DIRECTV2PC or Media Share to work. I have 2 different computers (a desktop and laptop). They both are fine with the specs under the Playback Advisor.
The program will go from 0 receivers to one or two connected. If I can get it to play (one out of 20 times) once I try to fast forward the program crashes. Today I was able to watch 10 minutes of a show, but since then it either doesn't load or the program closes once I press the skip ahead or fast forward button.
I've had a tech out in the past but they weren't able to figure it out after being here about 3 hours and talking to their Field Service Manager and tech support.
Thank you in advance for any help offered.

sat_cat,
I'm afraid the bad news is that DirecTV2PC just doesn't fare well with wireless connectivity. When the HR24 tries to stream full HD content over a network(wireless) that is designed to send data in bursts with pauses in between the DirecTV2PC application just cannot reliably present a solid feed to the screen. Now Media Share should work fairly well over wireless but may still encounter random disconnects. Are you using Windows Media Player 11 on the desktop which would be the preferred computer to centralize your media files on for Media Share? Or have you installed TVersity or another 3rd party media server software? Have you enabled file sharing in WMP11? Maybe you should start a fresh post in the Media Share forum with some more details and we'll work on getting Media Share working for you. If there is any way that you can run a cat5e ethernet cable from your HR24's directly to your router, then do a red button reset we can try to see if your desktop is up to the task(processor, graphics card and memory) of utilizing DirecTV2PC but I'm doubtful you will ever have success wirelessly.

Although this won't fix your problem, if you are in fact using a Ethernet "hub" you may have all sorts of problems. An Ethernet "switch" is the proper device to use. A hub has no place in a home network.

I meant an Ethernet Switch. Sorry about that.

If you have tried everything else, I would get a different brand router and see if it works. If not, keep the receipt and return it the next day.

I assume that you're aware that Directv2PC does not recommend or support a wireless connection as DJDice alluded to. The reason being that the program requires a 100% full time duplex connection and the minor lapses in the wireless signal drops the connection. See help page 7 below.
