Season Record - priorities are backwards

Hello

First off, I am an AT&T employee and Directv customer.  Having this issue through the years gets me aggravated each time one of my favorite sports teams' seasons starts.  I've been given a community answer that the priorities for a teams recordings are correct, but I'm here to say that it looks like we're creeping up on 2 decades of that not being true.  As a fan, I would like my DVR to try to record my local station first.  If the game isn't on that channel for whatever reason, then go to a national broadcast.  If that isn't available, then the last resort would be on the opposition teams regional broadcast.  HOWEVER, that is opposite of what happens ALL THE TIME.  Constantly, when I go to watch a recorded game, there are potentially 2, 3 or 4 failed recordings (meaning, the DVR tried to record them, but I don't get those channels) and 1 (hopefully) successful recorded game.  However, again, that hopeful successfully recorded game isn't always present because the DVR has recorded a blacked-out channel.  This is just plain aggravating.

AFAIK DTV records the first instance on the lowest channel of the program regardless of what other channels it is on so it doesn't record any other channels.  To get the correct channel you use the guide and press the record button.

Thanks for your thoughts shannon02.  However, if that's how it's done, it would be the most lazy low-tech solution.  Just a small example of what I am talking about from last night (4/26/21).  I have the SF Giants set up as my team and for season record.  I live in the Bay Area and my regional station is 696 NSBAHD (NBC Sports Bay Area - HD).  Last night, they played the Colorado Rockies in SF.  My DVR appears to have tried 683 (ATRMHD) first.  I'm assuming that is the regional station for the Rockies.  I don't get that channel, so it shows a recording of 0m.  Then, it went to 213-1 (MLBaHD) and did a 7m partial recording.  That was 7m of the Directv Banner and AT&T logo.  There was no other recording done....especially not the single channel (696) that would get me the game.  This (Edited per community guidelines) because 1) I wanted to watch the game and couldn't, and 2) I work for AT&T and I really do like my DTV, but have to post stuff like this.  I would like to know a person in my company that I can chat with to describe how wrong the logic is that is being used.  Just so frustrating.  I would say probably 80% of the time I do wind up getting a usable recording of the games I want and on the right channel, but rarely do I get that without a couple of failed recordings on channels that I don't get for the same event.
