Sees but won't play content

When I use DTVtoPC my computer sees the receiver, shows me what is recorded, but when I try to play something I get a message saying that it's unable to play the content. I have a Windows7 OS with an Nvidia GeForce 9600M video card. It used to play just fine but I can't seem to figure out what I may have done to change things.
