Signal issues WNBC (NBC East HD) only
We were getting the message 771 (Searching for Satellite) on most of our channels on our HD, DVR receiver. After going through the troubleshooting processes suggested and talking to a service representative we disconnected all the cables and reconnected them. This cleared up the problem for all of the stations except WNBC, the NBC HD station from New York. We have not gotten the 771 message but this station keeps breaking up. We are having very clear, low wind weather and we cannot see anything affecting the line of sight. The signal strength on our 103c satellite (which we were told carries our HD) are all in the mid to low 90 on both tuners, although occasionally a couple of them will bounce to 0 and back to mid 80's. The signal strength on the other satellites seem to match what they typically are when everything is working well. Any ideas or is it just something with this particular channel?
Also I have not gotten a great explanation of why disconnecting and reconnecting cables helps - one rep said static electricity builds up and another said signal leaks out. It seems to work, but I'd like to know why.
