Signal reception problem on about a dozen channels

A rude DirecTV technician came by and told me that I need to fell two trees to correct the problem.  He suggested that the signal comes from straight above the angled Dish rather than from the SW and therefore I need to arrange to have two trees taken out for a cool $1000.  Can someone demonstrate to me the pattern of signal reception coming from the satellite to the dish.  This person certainly did not earn my trust so I want to look into it more deeply before I sacrifice a grand and two nice trees that are directly over the dish (0 degrees).  He was not even willing to give me his name and number should I still have problems after potentially taking out the trees.  I contacted DirecTV after the visit and they are giving me a hard time about getting another opinion from another tech.

Did you call DTV or did they just show up?  Dishpointer.com can show you the path, you need to select MultiLNB then DTV SL3 then your address.  In most cases if possible DTV installs a new dish where it can receive the signal.

I have had the dish in the same place for 10 years, trimming back the forest as needed, which I did most recently 2 weeks ago because we were getting pixelation on a half dozen channels. My yard work did not change things even though the dish is aimed at the expected angle with no trees in the way.  So contacted DTV and they sent out some unpleasant fellow full of attitude who spent less than 5 minutes to then tell me I have tree interference.  I immediately found him untrustworthy as we talked.  I contacted DTV again to get a new technician to get a second opinion and DTV is balking now.  My corrupted channels switch over to SignalSaver, which disallows taping and other features.  I feel kind of stuck now.  I will try to call again soon.  I do not want to sacrifice two fine mature trees if there is no need because the technician was wrong.  He took great umbrage at my questioning him, refused to give me his name and number and issued no receipt.
