Soooo confused

So the installation guys came yesterday and hooked up the DirectTV2PC thing and I asked them how to access it and they said they didnt know.  So I came on here to find out.  So far I have installed the DIRECTTV2PC playback advisor.  I have an email with an activation key but I have no idea what thats for or where it goes.  Can anyone lead me in the right direction? Thanks!
