Spanish channels

all of a sudden, I'm having trouble with the Spanish channels. What satellite are they on, as I may need an alignment

What error code? Does this happen on all receivers or just a specific one? (If you have only one receiver just say I have only one receiver.)

What receiver model(s)?

please go to Menu, Settings, Satellite, and View Signal Strength.

From there, find the range of satellite 101 signal strength. Wait for all the numbers to populate. It is normal to see a few with zero strength. After done, press the ‘+’ button to be sent to satellite 99 (ca). Do the same thing you just did, finding the range of the numbers. Again, it’s normal to see a few with zero or low strength. Afterwards, do this same procedure for satellite 99 (cb), satellite 103 (ca), and satellite 103 (cb).

At the end, you should have gotten five averages for five satellites. 101, 99(ca), 99(cb), 103(ca), and 103(cb)


Post those here and we can tell you what you need to improve or if your signals are good and the issue lies somewhere else.

There’s your problem. Satellite 99 and 103 are WAY TOO LOW. The dish definitely needs to be aimed. It’s not a specific transponder or anything, the whole satellite itself is not peaked. You can call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and schedule a technician to come and reaim the dish.

How can I get a tech to dispatch to realign the dish. The support staff are useless?
