Station issues

I suddenly have no access to CBS as there is a message on the local CBS channel that the contract was up.  I pay almost $200 each month so shouldn’t I have access to the major networks?

Agreement came up between TV provider and channel owner. As is their right, the channel owner pulled the feed while negotiating for higher costs.

There is no guarantee of any specific channel ("major" network or otherwise) always being there. TV providers do not own the channels so have a clause the channels and programming on them can change at any time.

If your CBS is owned by Nexstar, this didn't "suddenly" happen, as this was about a week ago. For more info, or to see if there is a separate situation for your CBS check the official page:  https://www.directv.com/tvpromise/

And for reference:

Many factors affect the availability, cost and quality of programming and may influence the decision to raise prices and the amount of any increase. These include, among others, programming and other costs, consumer demand, market and shareholder expectations, and changing business conditions. Accordingly, we reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete our programming packages, the selections in those packages, our prices, technologies used to deliver the Service, and any other Service we offer, at any time.
