SyFy channel playing SAP on Android Directv App

For some reason when I now view the SyFy channel in the Android Directv app the audio is now completely messed up (used to work ok). Seems to be playing SAP since sometimes the audio is in Spanish and sometimes the audio describes the scene in the show. Only on SyFy channel, other channels in the app work fine. Also fine if I watch SyFy on the TV via satellite.

Searched everywhere for any options to disable SAP in the app and nothing (the satellite TV allows SAP enable/disable). Of course it could be messed up in the source where the channel audio streaming from Directv is adding incorrect audio tracks.

Since the SyFy channel is now basically unwatchable in the app I'm hoping someone has an idea how to fix this.

Hello @stephengold and thank you for reaching out. We are more than happy to help!

Sometimes, Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) creates sound problems, we suggest you:

    1. Uninstall and reinstall the App

    2. Reset to factory settings

    3. Go to language setting and click on primary language

I tried uninstalling/reinstall the Directv app and it made no difference. I also tried adding another language to the phone settings and then switched back to US english and still have the same problem. No option to reset the phone to factory settings since it would take a day or two to reinstall it back to all the same apps and settings. Also worth noting that the adverts on SyFy are in English, it is only the main content that switches to Spanish

Another data point is that I have the same problem with SyFy channel in SAP on a totally different device (an Android tablet) so this is NOT device-specific. Could be that some bug in the Android version of the app is switching to SAP on just this one channel (seems unlikely) or the issue is with the source SyFy streaming video.

Bingo! Resetting the main receiver fixed the problem. Thanks for the help!
