Taking HD receiver to different location

I have a  H25-500 receiver.  I want to take to another location.  When I do that I get a signal and the guide but when I click on channels, I don't receive any programming.  I get an Error 722.  I tried reset receiver, unplugging power cord and still dont get any channels.  What can I do.

That's an account authorization error. Did this H25 work properly at your original location? Is it activated on your account? It might just need to have its authorization reactivated .... www.directv.com/refresh

Yes, most certainly because it has been disconnected from the satellite feed for too long and the card needs new authorizations in order to decrypt programming properly.

However, if you still see error 722, let the H25-500 stay plugged in to the dish and turned on for at least one night in order for it to get the latest authorizations by itself. Sometimes, the online won't work properly. I do recall that my H24 had to do this at one point because it wouldn't accept the service authorizations sent by DIRECTV. Therefore, I left it sitting overnight and it worked great in the morning without 722.

If you tried all of this and still get 722 (extreme scenario) then that means that the access card was disconnected for at least 5 years and can no longer be used because it missed too many major card updates in order to accept any authorizations, whether it be by you or automatically overnight. In that case, a new access card will need to be issued ($20.)

Also, a note, the H25 is the only non-Genie that is SWM-only. It cannot work on the older multiswitch like all boxes before it.

It did work at original location.  I will try leaving on overnight.  Thanks for all input.

Is the new location on the SWM setup with a current dish? This matters with the H25 as it is required. Many boxes before it could use both the old and newer setup (with an adapter), but it is the first (other than Genies) that couldn't use the old one at all.

Also be aware that you will not have Regional Sport Networks (RSNs) or locals at your secondary location. The service is built as one address per account as RSNs, locals, and the taxes you pay cannot be split between multiple places. The RSNs and locals are spot beamed for this purpose, so outside that spot beam they are incapable of being delivered.
