The DirecTV app needs some serious work

I'm getting really fustrated with the Mobile App...you would think because I have an AT&T based phone that the app would work flawlessy but No..I keep getting error messages "Your Phone has to be on the same network as the receiver"

Umm...no kidding.. really?

It is and has been for 4 years... My phone has a static IP address as well as the main DVR...hasn't changed, network is stable. I can ping the receiver fine.

Hello @oilman,

We understand that you're having an issue with error message when trying to use app. Don't worry we can help point you in the right direction.

Have you ever been able to connect?

Is your phone and receiver on the same band?

Yes I have been able to connect and even after I got the message I backed
out, tried again and it worked..I have gotten a similar message from the
web access also.
My main DVR and most everyrhing else connected via ethernet. The only thing
that is connected wirelessy are items that do not have a NIC ie. Google
Home Mini, Thermostat, Smartphones.
Like I mentioned in the forum, the DVR has an IP address statically
assigned to it. I do not have your typical consumer network.
I have a professional grade Gigabit wired router and then it feeds a
Gigabit Dual Band, Wireless Access Point.
Any furthers questions, please let me know.

Hi There @oilman,

Thank you for supplying your network step up.  Let's look at this another way.

Look at this article: Connect the DIRECTV app to your TV

Try the steps in that article, pay close attention to Number 3.

Please let us know.

Okay...everything is fine with #3 except maybe section C.
I can hook up the DVR via ethernet to the WAP because it still has 4 ports
and acts like a switch or setting up the DVR via WiFi.
I am attaching 2 screenshots from an app called Fing.. a network tool.
172.25.5.20 is the Main DVR and 172.25.5.21 is a remote box which of course
is hooked up via MoCa within the DVR.
Why is it that I get very bad results pinging to the DVR but perfect
results going to a remote box which has to go thru the DVR via ethernet
first then MoCa to the box?
To me it doesn't make sense.
