Universal remote suggestion?
New Vizio smart TV (with remote), DirecTV (remote) and Roku remote.
My last experience with a universal remote (~4-5 years ago) was a waste of time.
Are there any universal remotes *Today that will combine my 3 remotes to 1 and not require a PhD to program/use and might actually work?

Harmony remotes only use IR to control everything so no RF devices will be controlled.
I think Harmony is moving on to their hub system that uses touchpad tablets/phones or Siri/Alexa.

Thanks... 'Harmony' keeps popping up on searches along with 'no longer manufactured'. And that's what I don't get. With so many hits, the remote has to be at least not a dog. But given that, why would a business stop making a product that has such wide recognition?
Also, and I know this is subjective, how difficult is it to setup?
And without giving away the documentation<g>, how do you know which of the 3 devices you're asking the remote to (for example) got to 'Home'?

So if the Vizio TV wants infrared and the DirecTV remote wants the 'other' kind the Harmony figures that all out?
Database... got it. Seems 'clever' enough to have been done 20 years ago<g>!
Thanks to both you guys. But you're not off the hook. I may be back once I get the thing.

Buying the remote should be the easy part--not.
Amazon's 650 listing (and it's from Logitech) is ~$259. That's nuts and must reflect the discontinuance(?).
On the same Amazon page up top is the Harmony 655 for ~$59.
I figured it best to check back with you all before buying?

Doesn't the hub paint the room with IR making hiding it impractical?

The DirecTV remote is RF, other 2 IR.
Anyone know something about this one:

Brand: DIRECTV
3.8 out of 5 stars 4 ratings
Price: $19.99

DTV universal remotes that are RF capable have an "R" in the model number so that RC24 should be an RC24R and that is one of the first remotes made so doubtful it has the codes for roku or the vizo.

Shannon02--
I came back to close the thread out and just reread your 'R' post.
Final straw... wondering about going at this thing the 'other way'. Does DirecTV offer a remote that's IR vs. RF? I've never seen nor been offered a different remote other than their white Genie

Receivers H and HR20-HR34 are set for IR mode by default and are paired to an RF capable remote if needed, you can use the RF remote or the front panel buttons to return the receiver to IR mode. The newer HR44/54 Genies and the HS17 Genie2 use either IR or RF whatever they get as the RC7X remotes sends both.
