upgrading old equipment

i have been a customer since 99 and purchased my original equipment, would like to upgrade but not at the cost of new receivers as I said above I already nought it once. I see no offers to get free upgrades to HD, but if I was a new customer I would be eligible for new equipment for free.

This seems a bit once sided to me , being a loyal customer for years grants you nothing as far as upgrades.

not true.  we all got to be new customers once and got our first batch of equipment free of charge.  DTV also DOES provide free upgrades to eligible customers

as i said above "purchased my original equipment," they were not installing for free or giving equipment away to new customers in those days., I converted over from a C band ant. to the new format and purchased a RCA sat kit to connect to directv.

Check your DirecTV.com account.  You might be eligible for some free or reduced price HD equipment.  I just check my DirecTV.com account and I could get a free HD DVR if I wanted another one.  Also, it doesn't hurt to call and ask what deals you might be able to get.

jwkeith,

The days of "purchasing" equipment and "self installs" are pretty well gone with the new HD equipment and services. The advice from users peds48_installs and litzdog911 is spot on. I, like you, did the original install of purchased equipment in 1994. When I upgraded to HD in 2006, I "left it to the professionals" and it cost me a total of $20 for a HD DVR and relocating my old SD TIVO DVR receiver to the bedroom. With as long as you've been with D* I'm certain they'll offer you a sweet deal to upgrade to HD.

I bought my first Chevy in '54 (a used '52)  Since then I've driven I don't know how many GM cars and trucks, but you know what?  Them cheap skates charged me for every one of them.
