Using mute button with H24 Audio outs and RC64 remote
I would like my mute button on my RC64 remote to mute the analog audio outs
on my H24 receiver. It seemed to work for a while but quit. The audio outs
are connected to a Brookstone speaker tower which has no remote
capability so I don't think I can program the RC64 remote to control it. Any
ideas about how to do this? Can it be done? Thanks.

You can't mute the DirecTV Receive's audio OUT. The Remote's MUTE function can only control your TV's or AV Receiver's volume muting.

The audio out ports on a Directv receiver are "line" level and have no volume or mute controls (as Litzdog stated). Those ports are designed to be fed to an audio amplifier in either a TV, AVR or sound bar. You'd be better served if you connected feeds to the TV and then connected the speaker s to the TV's audio out.
Note that speaker systems are designed to be part of a system that includes an amplifier. I'd guess that not only do you not have Mute, you don't have any volume control either.

Is the speaker tower designed for the iPod?
