Watching local channels with iPhone app
My roof is being worked on, and my dish had to be removed. I can watch national channels with the iPhone app, but not local channels. With a local channel, I get, “Network Problem. This content cannot be played at this time. Please try again later.” Is there a way I can watch local channels? Thanks.

Not all local channels have or allow streaming of their content or they have their own app that you maybe able to log in with you DTV account.

Hi @puzzledmind, we're here to help.
Sometimes it is necessary to register your device on your receiver in order to view local programming. Keep in mind some local programming might only be available to watch via satellite.
Please try the following steps to troubleshoot the app:
1. Make sure the app is updated on your iPad device.
2. Try deleting and installing again.
3. Try on a different device to see if the results are different.

When a DIRECTV technician came to put my dish back on my roof, he told me that the app cannot be used to watch local channels. Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I was able to get local channels on my i-pad with an HR-44 but when I switched out to an HS-17 a couple of months ago it stopped working. I can see the channels but continue to get the “already streaming to another device” message which I do not have another device streaming. When i tried to go to the local channel apps to watch live TV, as directed by tech support, none of them worked except NBC. DIRECTV continues to take away functionality and the value of their service has gotten worse to me instead of better. Been with them for 22 years and it may be time to look for alternative service.
