WCNC/NBC in Charlotte

We are long time customers of AT&T. We are requesting that you keep WCNC/NBC as part of our service in the Charlotte area. I have Multiple Sclerosis, an incurable disease that leaves me quite depressed. Two programs in particular help me forget about my situation...watching Hoda and Jenna and Carolina Panthers football, as well as other local teams. Hoda and Jenna are not only funny, but spiritually uplifting. Watching the Panthers is even more exciting for me now, as a former student I taught when I lived in SC is the new punter. It does my heart good to see someone that I helped to educate go on to achieve such wonderful things! His grandfather, aunt and uncle, also live in the viewing area. It would be such a disappointment if his grandfather could not watch his grandson play professional football. Please keep WCNC/NBC for our area.

Thank you for your consideration,

Nancy (Edited to remove personal information)

This forum is not customer support. You aren’t actually communicating with Directv posting that here. Just realize Directv has no intention of dropping your NBC channel. Your local channel owner wants more money. This happens with every tv provider when it’s time to renew the agreement. How about you contact WCNC and tell them to quit asking for more money. After all, that just results in your bill going up.

Plucked from a another forum post:

rant]

Every year these threads appear.  And every year I keep wishing the carriers (cable companies and ATT) would hold their ground until the local's realize they are losing eyes for their advertising.   People blame the carriers for their "greed" and not supplying "their channels" that "they are paying for".

First, they are not "your channels".  ATT can do anything they want to the channel lineup as per these terms of service (8. INTERRUPTIONS, LIMITATIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS TO SERVICE).  You are paying for a TV service, not specific individual channels.

Second in this case it's the locals who are the greedy ones here asking for ever more and more money every year for something most anyone can get for free with an antenna (assuming the locals are in range - check here).  And then later everyone complains of their ever increasing bills when the one of the reasons for that increase is the "Broadcast TV Surcharge".  So guess who's actually paying for the locals for their greed ?we the customer

If the carriers stonewalled these locals maybe they would "blink" and put an end to this annual blackmail.  But it never happens and it's just wishful thinking on my part.  In reality the carriers and the locals eventually come to an "agreement" where the locals get less than they asked for (they probably asked for twice as much as they need anyhow if they truly need any more in the first place).  We end paying for the bill.  And it's always the carriers that are to blame.  There's a lot to blame and greed to put on the carriers, but this annual negotiation crap is not one of them.

[end of rant]

Revenue for local advertising is going down as well, with the proliferation of new outlets to get a message out to new eyes. Your one sided view of “locals” and directv holding out hurts the subscriber. And (Edited per community guidelines) right it’s my channel. You have provided it through out my contract, and that was a major reason I choose you. The fine print says that Directv can change at any time, and we are (Edited per community guidelines) out of luck. That’a exactly what you are doing to the local channel, take what we offer, or you are (Edited per community guidelines) out of luck. Seems to be your motto.  If the channel isn’t back, I’m going to use this “employee” blog as evidence of the bad faith thinking behind Diretv’s whole GAME. I will leave, and sue if you try to prevent it.
