Where is the menu in DIRECTV2PC

I haven't been able to locate any receivers so I thought I would get the latest version of the software.  The website said to use the system setup menu to get an update.  I've also seen where posters have referred to help pages from a menu.  If there are no receivers found is there no menu or am I just clueless on how to bring up the menu.  Thanks.
