WHY does screen go black EVERY day
What is going on with Directv .. EVERY afternoon around 4pm (CST), everything goes blank.... nothing is working and it is off about 5 minutes.. NOTHING... I turn it off, turn it back on and nothing... If you go to the guide, the small screen of previews in the top
left corner is nothing but a blank image. WHAT is going on? I'm always in the middle of a mystery movie when it's gone...
Been doing this all week now. This is frustrating....

What is the receiver model? If you have other receivers do they have this issue? (Also include their receiver models) Any error codes? How long has this been an issue? Does it occur with specific channels during that timeframe or is it random? Try a red button reset (side by the access card for HR54 series or front where it says ‘PUSH’)

@detuch254 I have only one reciever ...On the green sticker it shows model#: HR44-500 has also has the number RID 0252 0991 3737 and I see a label on top with serial#: D33h Q4DF 211172

I get no error codes at all.. the TV just goes blank with no picture and no sound. I am watching 274 Ovation, when it does this... been doing it at least this week... not sure exact date...I think Monday Oct 3.... it's happened this week, today was the 5th day in a row... it is usually about the same time in the afternoon about 4pm cst... I'm always watching a mystery movie.. I have put in 360 to see if I switch stations if it is on and it came on okay...I've turned off the television and wait a minute and back on and that don't help... It's usually off about 5 minutes and comes back on... But never an error code. I hadn't tried to do the red button reset... When watching the channel tomorrow afternoon, if it goes off again, I will try the red button reset.... I've been trying to figure out what is causing it... so far, if I remember right.. I'm on 274 watching Midsomer (Editado segᅢᄎn las pautas del foro) which is on weekdays... I watch the first movie that comes on at 1pm to 3:30pm... then the second movie starts at 3:30 to 6pm... it's always about 3:55pm when it suddenly goes out... back on about 4:00pm.. did it all this week.. not sure if it did it over the weekend or not.. will see what it does tomorrow if it happens again... Will report back tomorrow afternoon .. more

Is this only happening on Ch 274?
What happens if you change the channel when the video goes "black"?

@litzdog911 I have only tried one other channel and it was working.. I haven't tried others... I am having it to out at the same time every afternoon and I was talking with my neighbor this morning and she is having the same problem but with a different channel. Something going on that is making the picture and sound just go blank about the same time in the afternoon (around 3:55pm cst) here... It's not confined to one channel...I thought maybe it was that particular channel, but talking to her, it's not just 274 . When it goes out.. it's out for about 5-6 minutes .. The first time it did it, I thought my TV had turned off (because I had an old TV that used to shut itself off at times).. but I changed from 274 to 360 and it was working fine.. Turned off the TV and waited a minute and turned it back on to 274 and didn't help... If it goes off again this afternoon, I will try several other channels to see if any of them are out and report back ....

@litzdog911 Watched the station over the weekend and no issues... don't know why it was only on the weekdays that it went blank. I will see what happens at 3:55 pm today and see if it starts going blank again today... I'm hoping that it doesn't start doing it again... (I tried to post Saturday but my net went down and by the time I got it back, I got started on something else and forgot)..... Saturday and Sunday had no issues... so fingers crossed it's not going to happen again. Will post back later in the day to let you know what it does and if okay... will not post again unless it happens again....

Reset your receiver twice within 10 minutes. See if that fixes your problem. If not keep be your box going bad.

@CobbTotem3 Seems if it were the reciever box going out, that it would be random times when it went blank.. the 5 days that it went blank was at the exact same time.. And I wasn't the only one.. my neighbor's did the same thing, same time in the afternoon... But will see what it does this afternoon and then will do a reset of the box... I'm hoping it won't go out like that again...

@Mamacat104 I watch The Herd on FS1 for the past 4 days every day between 1:30 and 1:40 the picture would freeze during live show. I reset my box this morning. Today no issues during that time period.
Rest your box then do another reset after the first one completes. Wait 24 hrs to see if the problem happens the next day. If that fixes it great. But it could be your box going bad, network feed, or maybe your dish is not getting proper signal.
Check your signal strength by going into Menu-Settings-Satellite Dish Setup then chose view signal strength

@CobbTotem3 Okay.. will check it out... and will see if there is any issue this afternoon with it... will reset it after I finish watching this movie I have on... and I'll check to see what the signal strength is.. usually I don't have any issues with the signal unless it is storming bad... I don't know what the signal should be....
I've had the receiver for several years.. since I got DirecTV... and I don't remember when that was ... I'd have to go look up my paperwork...

I don't remember if I do or not... it's been a long time and I've never had an issue with it before...
I checked the signal strength...
says: Satelitte transponders (32 total at 101)

DIRECTVhelp Zharick Thank you... when my movie goes off, I'll reset the reciever.. Am hoping that it don't go blank this afternoon.. last week, it would go blank on 274 at about 3:55 pm and come back about 4:00 or 4:01 pm... (my neighbor had same issue, at the same time but on a different channel)... If It goes blank and I reset it, will see what happens tomorrow...

@Mamacat104 Protection Plan would cover the cost of new equipment at no cost to you including a service visit to check on your equipment. Your Bill if you look at it will tell you if you are being charged for it.
What was the reading on the signal transponders? Above 95
