Why is the CW network not working ?
So I have message on my tv when I tune to channel 38 for the last 2 weeks, that tells me the channel owner has removed this from my service and to visit this website. So here I am trying to get answers before I switch to a different cable provider

I'm guessing that the owner of your CW Ch38 pulled their signal from DirecTV while negotiating for more money. It's become an all too common tactic as networks lose advertising revenue and demand more money from providers like Dish, Comcast and DirecTV. You need to contact the corporation that owns your CW station and demand that they let DirecTV deliver your station while they're negotiating. And ask them why providers like Comcast and DirecTV should have to pay them anything when they're allowed to use our public airwaves for FREE?!?

Really? You really think DirecTV is "pulling this every month"? Millions of customers across the country could care less about whether or not folks in your city receive CW, so why should we all have to pay more every time a greedy station owner wants more money? That's OUR money that's paying for these outrageous "retransmission" contract. I'm glad that providers like Dish, Comcast, and others no longer cave into these demands. Do your homework and learn the facts. And ask your neighbor how they'll feel when that station owners holds Blueridge hostage like they're doing you and other DirecTV customers in your city. In the mean time, get an off-air antenna to watch that station, or visit your neighbor that has Blueridge, before Blueridge goes through the same mess.

All providers have to have contacts with the locals to rebroadcast their programs so Blueridge's contract will come up the only question is will they reach an agreement before it expires or will CW remove the feed when it does as shown by them removing it from DTV. Maybe we will see you back here when your next provider's signal is pulled.

And you need to do your homework. Check the forum of ALL other TV service providers .... Dish Network, Comcast, Spectrum, and even Blueridge. They ALL face these contract disputes. These providers should be allowed to deliver an out-of-area station when the station owners get greedy and pull their signal. That would solve this problem!

@shannon02 you were being nice for the most part, so I’ll respond respectfully. Thank you for information and nicely typing it, your comment at the end of “maybe we’ll see you back here” was uncalled for. But you won’t see me back here IF CW is pulled from the other service provider in my area. But thank you. Hope you have a nice day!

DirecTV and others have to pay for the right to take a free signal and then charge you for it.
Personally, I take an antenna and get all my local channels for free and do not have a television provider.
But if they pay Michael White over 12mil a year, they can afford to pay local tv stations a bit more if they want to charge for the free content.

No they can't. Local station owners are already charging providers like DirecTV way more than they're worth. And it's getting worse and worse. As you say, these are FREE over-the-air stations, so providers like DirecTV shouldn't have to pay anything for them!
