Why you should start your own thread if you need help and what you should say.

This forum is different than other forums you might participate in or read online.

If you have a problem and have tried to resolve it using information found here or else where you should include that information But it is highly likely that there is something different about your situation. This is why it is important to start a separate thread if you want assistance from technicans who monitor the forum.

Also, paint a picture in words about your system so that techs can "see" it. No one can help if they don't know the specifics about your system. May as well tie your shoes and hope that will do the trick. If a technican has recently been to your home and/or you had new equipment/services installed please let people know.

Also, if there are a lot of threads about a similar problem then a trend will clearly become apparent.

I do not work for Directv. I am posting this because I can see the frustration being caused by others piggy backing on threads of others when they assume the problem is exactly the same. It very well may not be. IMO, we will all get help faster when helping is made easier for the techs.
