ATT directv player is it supported on Ubuntu (22.04)

I have updated my browsers (Chrome or Firefox) on Ubuntu (22.04) desktop, but when I click on to watch an episode of a show, it indicates "Install directv player", when I click, it doesn't do anything.

Has anyone figured out how to get this to work? Apparently the link under the covers tries to install Videoguard, and I can't find a copy for Ubuntu. System requirements also state Mac and Windows 10 only.

I have Directv Stream and I just login to the website through Chrome and it works. Running Debian here.

The player is only used for the DirecTV Satellite service. DirecTV Stream is a different subscription based paid service.

I don't understand, I logged into the directv site, and clicked on watch now and picked an episode of a show, and when I clicked it stated "install directv player".

I don't understand what you all mean by directv stream.

We do have satellite service at home, but when I logged in from the laptop, I am nowhere near the satellite.

So the player somehow "understands" underneath the covers that I have satellite service and it needs to install the player?

So the question still is, how do I install the player on Ubuntu desktop?

DirecTV Stream is a service like YouTube TV or Hulu Live or Sling. DirecTV Stream is DirecTV's streaming service. It's unrelated to the satellite service. The satellite service uses the player not DirecTV Stream (streaming not satellite).

Ok I am not getting any answers here. I even tried the Directv streaming site.

https://stream.directv.com/player

And I get "Sorry there is a problem here"... classic try again later and nothing works.

Has nothing to do with DirecTV Stream. You have a satellite subscription. DirecTV Stream is not related to the DirecTV satellite.

There is a difference, so please don't tell me there isn't.

When I go to the episode to watch and it prompts me to download the player, it doesn't not install.

When I go to the site for the stream and I click on the episode, it states there is an error, please try later.

So there are two different flows.

Yes, they are based on your subscription. The service DirecTV Stream which you do not subscribe to does not use the player. DirecTV satellite does require the player. The credentials are not transferable between the 2 services. Unfortunately, since they combined both services into one app, there have been a lot of issues. The main point is you are a DirecTV satellite subscriber and not a DirecTV Stream subscriber. Your issue is with DirecTV satellite.

Maybe the player is just not supported with your OS.
