I only have one box. Receiver ID: 0232 3655 9268 I have not seen the problem during watching live TV, but we almost never watch live tv. Always watching through the DVR.
@clhabarnes_satellite I see here that since the Receiver ID starts with 0232, it is an HR54 receiver. If it started with 0231, it would technically be an H20. However, since we are dealing with an HD DVR, it is safe to assume that your receiver is the HR54. Just to confirm, does your front panel have just the Power Button on it? And is the access card on the side where the red reset button is located?
In any case, since the recordings are choppy and all messed up, I would have to say that the hard drive in that HR54 is dying and needs to be replaced. May I also ask, do all recordings do the same thing?
Thanks, everyone. Somehow I got the info to hold the Info button on the remote down until the model number popped up. It is indeed a HD54, My biggest problem is that it is an intermittent problem. (Don't you hate those.) I have never experienced the problem on live TV. And I never have the problem on Netflix or any movie streaming. Just on replay of shows I recorded off DirecTV.
If it is a dying receiver, does DirecTV replace those for free?

DVR/Receiver model number(s)?
What box has the bad recordings?
Only recordings, or also Live TV?

That's not the model number. It's on a label near the access card and will be something like HR54, H24, etc.

I have no such number on my access card. It says: 0035 7851 9492 with some other numbers as well 410068304012. And there is an S.

I just realized you said that the model number was on a label near the access card. I don't see such a label.

Try this ....
Tune to a Live channel and start watching. Any issues?
Now press REC to start recording that show. Wait a few minutes. Any issues?
Now press LIST and start to play that recording. Any issues?

It's actually an HR54 Genie DVR. DirecTV will replace it for free if you have their Equipment Protection Plan. Otherwise it's $20.
Have you tried my troubleshooting tip?
