Best Satellite Dish to purchase today for a new H24 box for RV. Waiting on the H24 box to ship

Local RV setup person says he can make it work with stuff he has but just in case.. What dish equipment would I need to prepare to purchase to get it working.  Our old setup no longer works.  We had non-HD setup at the RV.

Yep the old setup needs replacing. DirecTV has been shutting down their MPEG-2/SD-only feeds as it is an outdated service.

This means you need a slimline SWM dish on a tripod/sled mount or the Winegard Trav'ler for the RV.

Is this H24 a replacement ordered via DirecTV? Or did you order through a 3rd party authorized retailer (replacement or additional)?

What are the models of your other boxes?

Worked through ATT that got Winegard on the phone.  Prob should have researched first but the Local person just told me to request an H24.  I have an H25 at home.

The H25 is fine as is MPEG-4 and SWM-only (can't be used on the old multi-switch).

You cannot request a specific model through DirecTV (AT&T). It is the next model on the shelf regardless. So if you ordered an HD non-DVR, then an H24 or H25 is possible as depends on stock.

If you ordered a specific model through an authorized retailer (3rd party, not DirecTV/AT&T) then be prepared there may be issues trying to activate it. Unknown the cause, but DirecTV has recently had issues with activating boxes from authorized retailers or non-Genie boxes (except H25, perhaps because the system recognizes it as SWM-only but that is only a guess).

If this was to replace a MPEG-2 box you already had in the RV, hopefully the activation goes well. If this is an additional instead, remember you will be adding $7 to the monthly bill for the additional TV.
