BLUETOOTH FREEZES SATELLITE FEED

Recently when I connected any of my bluetooth headphones to my Gemini box, the satellite feed froze, and if I change the channel, all I get is a black screen with the channel information header.  The apps work fine.  Tech support sent me a replacement box and said that the updated firmware would solve the problem but the new box has the same issue.  Any one else experiencing this?

We're sorry to hear that the problem persists even after the Gemini device was replaced, @cheshirecb. We've forwarded this to our team for further investigation, and we'll let you know once we get an update.

We have an update regarding our investigation. Our team checked into the Bluetooth issue and verified that this isn't a widespread bug with the Gemini box. Because this is a unique case, we have a specialist on standby ready to further assist you. Please check your DM so we can look closer into your setup. Charles, DIRECTV Community Team

Yes same here, I hadn't used my headphones on my Gemini for a month and now that I was trying to watch TV while my wife was sleeping as soon as I connected any headphones because I tried 3 different pairs and it immediately stops programming.

What I did notice is that they work fine on the apps but not Live TV or recorded save programming.

Exactly what I'm experiencing.  And it is happening on all of my receivers; not just one.

Just an update to this....  A tech was sent to the house to check out the system.  He replaced the tower, but this did not solve the problem.

It seems no one at DirecTV has any clue how to fix this.  Although the tech told me they created another support ticket, its been a couple of weeks and nothing has changed.

As a work around I am using a Bluetooth transmitter with an optical input.  If you want to utilize this for audio only  (without the television on) for an extended period of time I'm pretty sure you'd need an HDMI pass through because the Gemini box will turn off automatically.

Cheshirecb,

I was just going to say that I don't think it's a physical issue it feels like when they did the update they probably put something into it that blocked that option.

Whatever software update was made blocked the Bluetooth option for us.

We will just have to wait for a new update that hopefully will fix it.

If the engineers know what code they put in that blocked it in the first place.

We will just have to wait and see.
