Cannot view downloaded tv shows when outside the US using Direct TV app

I downloaded at least 20 hours of shows from my home dvr to my Samsung tablet two weeks ago.  Now I am in Austria and Germany and cannot access those shows.  What's up.  I am not trying to stream, just watch shows that are on my tablet.  I either get a message that says I am not connected to the internet, yet I am.  Or, it says I have not downloaded any shows when in fact I have recorded a ton.  Help!

@kjsmythe, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

We want to confirm that you can only access into your downloaded TV show while using your DIRECTV App only within the US.

Let us know if further assistance is needed, we're here to help.

DIRECTV does not allow streaming of the DIRECTV app outside of the United States. You could try using a VPN for a state in the United States (Chicago, New York City) but this will require a subscription if you do not already subscribe to a VPN service to protect your security and privacy online if necessary.

@detuch254

The OP is not trying to stream the shows. They downloaded the shows to the mobile device so they can watch regardless of internet connection or being out of country.

@Kjsmythe

Did you test that the downloads were working correctly before you left?

The downloads are all under 30 days old?

I tested them in the US and they all worked fine.. They are all under 30 days. Yes. Many of them are recent Olympics broadcast. A AT&T employee told me that even my downloads will not work outside of the US. This totally (Edited per community guidelines) as I travel overseas quite a bit and wish to watch them while flying or in my hotel rooms.      Thanks.

Try turning off all network connections (airplane mode for many devices) and see if that allows it through. As they are on the device itself, location should not matter but perhaps there is a software issue when recognizing another country's connection.
