Direct TV App, DVR recordings
We have a vacation rental...I dont have Direct TV...I'm thinking about installing the Direct TV APP so one of our vacation renters can watch their recoded movies on our TV from their Direct TV DVR ...Is this possible?

Nope, the mobile app doesn't support streaming to any TV and will not stream programs from the Genie when outside of the home network. There is no app to stream DTV satellite programs to a TV.

are you sure? I just downloaded a DirectTV Streaming APP on our Smart TV just now......It's asking for a username and password....

That is for the DTV streaming service that is a separate subscription it used to be AT&T Now/AT&T TV

Yes, the AT&T umbrella has once again caused confusion with how they name their different services.
DirecTV - This is service by satellite with a receiver/client box on each TV. The DirecTV app is only available on mobile devices (smart phone and tablet). It does not support streaming to TV as you pay for each authorized TV. As such, there is no TV app for DirecTV.
DIRECTV STREAM - This is a streaming only service. It was first called DIRECTV NOW before being rebranded to AT&T TV NOW, or just AT&T TV, until settling on the current version. This has been a nightmare as too many people think that both providers are one and the same. As it is streaming to begin with, the app is available on devices like Roku, Firestick, etc. and even "smart" TVs that can download apps. They even have their own branded box.
Comes down to that DirecTV and DIRECTV STREAM are two separate providers owned by AT&T.
DirecTV (the satellite service) does not have an option to stream DVR recordings out of home. That feature was removed a couple years ago, presumedly because it didn't work well and used discontinued equipment.
As a note, DirecTV is one word, one T in the name. Careful on this as some scams hide in plain view with a simple misspelling.
