The Movies Extra Pack (formally called HD Extra Pack) can have ads unlike the normal premium packs. My understanding this is why it is much cheaper than the others as that is how they make up their revenue.
DirecTV like other TV providers does not control content or ads of the channels.
Shannon02 any minor nowadays can access explicit content but cable is not subject to FCC censorship laws like regular tv is. That's why channels like HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, IFC, TCM, and a whole host of others can show unedited content. Hdnet is a premium channel, which means you have to pay extra in addition to your cable bill to receive it.
They are secured channels and it is assume that the person that subscribes to them has taken steps to prevent minors access, doesn't matter if they can or can't access them those are the FCC rules that all TV provider follow. That is why DTV and AFAIK all other providers provided parental controls on their receivers.

They are also editing their movies. No more uncensored content. I will no longer watch them anymore.

All public broadcast channels have to censor movie content to comply with FCC rules. Nothing new.

Hdnet is not a public broadcast channel and isn't subject to the same rules as free over the air broadcast channels.

Shannon02 you have to have cable or satellite to access it. Public means free tv that is accessed by an antennae or without payment.
