Houston KHOU channel 11 pixelation and audio drops is back again
This has been a on and off issue for years with KHOU.
Current symptoms are when some shows go to commercial the screen goes black like the show is going to commercial. Music may be playing. Suddenly the music stops mid chord. There is about a 2 to 3 second gap. Screen stays blank. After 2 to 3 seconds, another maybe 1 second of music plays appearing to be the final fade out that would have occured without the gap. Commercial now starts. Many times 10-20 seconds into the commercial there is a brief burst of pixelation. From there pretty much ok. When show comes back on, we dont see the sound drop but soon after beginning the picture will there will be one burst of pixelation. In this instance it was all 3 FBI shows on Tuesday 2/22/2022. I record the shows and watch them later. The issue is in the recording. Occurs on both the TV attached to HR44-200 and the TV on the C51-700.
Second issue is with local 6 and 10 pm new and Wheel of Fortune at 6:30. Each of these have frequent approx 1/2 second audio blips. Not really a whole word is lost. More like a sylable or 2.
Signal levels are always in the high 90s. Weather is not and issue.
Other times the video and audio is very good. No noticable audio blips or pixelation.
Anyone in the Houston market have similiar issues with local channels?

I do recall seeing other posts here about this issue KHOU. It's a problem with their feed to DirecTV. Usually the best way to address these sorts of issues to contact the local station engineering manager.

Talked to KHOU engineer before on similiar issue. He even called in the DTV rep to look at the locals concentrator which happened to be located at the KHOU facility. Nothing could be found. Engineer even stated that the signal to DTV was the same signal they sent to the transmitter for air broadcast. The locals concentrator is no longer in the KHOU facility and is now at an ATT data center. The original KHOU building was destroyed by flooding and they moved to a new location.
On a side note, DTV next level support called yesterday to run some tests but I was unable to do it at the time. They were supposed to call back last night but didn't. Waiting on tech to arrive today. Not sure what that is going to accomplish but we shall see.

4 tech visits, multiple conversations with support, replacement of equipment, new cabling and still no change. Another neighbor with DTV also has same issues. Problem would seem to have to be in the DTV network but getting anyone to look at it is problematic. DTV requires a lot of customer complaints about the issue before they will look any further into it. Being this is a local channel issue, may be seen as 'annoying but normal operation' for many customers and the aggrevation of dealing with support, there will probably never be enough calls to escalate this past the call center.
