I apologize. I should have given more details. I watch direct TV in my house. I wish to also watch Direct TV at another location using my current monthly subscription. I did a lost of research and ended up with a lot of frustration, unable to do that.
My understanding that I would be able to watch Direct TV on my computer or another TV set. The computer keeps sending me to an AT&T screen requesting my authorization to use my data.
So.. How can I watch Direct TV on a second TV set? (Mine is a Samsung)
You can log into you DTV account to watch the available channels with the laptop and maybe able to stream to a TV. You can also download the mobile DTV app to watch programs on a mobile device and programs recorded on a Genie when the mobile device is connected to the home network but you can't stream to a TV. So as stated you need a dish and receiver.
DirecTV is service by satellite. Their model is you pay for each authorized TV on the service and that it is for a single residence. Having full service to work at another location is not supported as account sharing is not allowed.
Loging into a computer on the website or using the app on a smartphone/tablet are limited options. And the app does not support casting to TV.
There is no DirecTV app for any TV. You pay for each TV on the service by having a receiver/client on it at home.
Now some individual channels have their own streaming apps. You can use those on streaming devices, or some "smart" TVs. The channel has you verify what your TV provider is. This provides you some streaming options but is not the full service. Remember DirecTV is not a streaming provider. They are designed to be a static service, so satellite provided to a single home per account. Locals, allowed sports teams, and taxes required to be paid in regard to satellite service are based on your physical service address.
You can not watch Directv on a TV at another location. There is no Directv app for a TV. If the TV is a smart TV and connected to the internet, you can use your Directv credentials to watch various network apps like NBC, CBS, TNT, TBS, etc.
