Local channel connector
I haven't spoken with 5 direct tv customer service or tech people. They said they would send me a local channel connector and then said the system says we are not eligible Even though before they put the order in it says we are. The last tech we spoke to told us to buy an over-the-air antenna. We did this and he said that we should be able to get the local channels on the DirecTV but we can't figure out how to do that without an LCC that we see in the videos which is separate from the over the air antenna. Very frustrated and ready to cancel. Even online when I signed up it stated we could recieve the LCC.

What DVR model do you have? Not all of them support the AM21 or LCC.

Local Channel Connector (LCC) is normally only available in a couple test markets.
For a short time, it was able to be ordered because of local channel negotiations (i.e., Nexstar). This did not guarantee you would get one as they weren't stocked for a full launch yet.
Only compatible with 2nd/3rd generation Genie (HR44/HR54).
The LCC is not advertised as still in testing. Where "online" did you see the LCC being available?
The LCC (which replaces the long discontinued AM21) allows you to connect a regular antenna to a DirecTV box. If you don't have one, then the antenna you bought is to connect to the TV itself. DirecTV does provide some locals via the satellite feed, just depends on where you live what is available. www.directv.com/locals

Confusion here. Local channel access on the order probably means the directv locals, not OTA locals. You are eligible for local channel access but you are not in an eligible market because directv does not have locals in your market. Very confusing order information. The techs were not actually talking about the LCC but about an off-air antenna which winegard (amongst others) can sell you.
If you can get locals through your existing antenna then the LCC or AM21 should work if you can find one. Warning however, The tuners in the LCC and AM21 are older designs and might not be as good as the one in your TV.

The LCC has not been available for quite a while now, so I don't know how anyone could promise it to you. Directv has many local channels without the LCC. What's your zip code?

When I signed up online it was an option that I could choose for a fee of $10 or so in order to watch the local games. My zip code is 82009 and we don't have local channels here because we I guess are at the Colorado Wyoming border and there is an issue with our location. I'm not saying that anyone was trying to deceive me, I'm just trying to figure this out. The last two agents I spoke to told me to buy this antenna. The very last stage and I spoke to on Sunday said that there is something else that we need in order to connect it to the DirecTV box so we can get channels through the DirecTV box. There's nothing else that is supposed to be with the antenna according to the manufacturer so I was doing research on online and just assumed it was the LCC.

To get locals from antenna through the DirecTV box, as opposed to connecting that antenna directly to the TV and switching inputs as needed, requires the LCC for the HR54. DirecTV boxes are not made with that built-in.
Did you order at www.directv.com or some other website? Does your order confirmation emailed from DirecTV show the LCC listed?

Are you able to actually receive off-air stations with an antenna on your TV?
I have an AM21 I'm willing to sell if you're interested.

The LCC is not available from directv. Period. You can sometimes see LCCs or AM21s for sale on ebay or from individuals not needing them any more (hence Litzdog's post). They are typically $150 or so. However, the other more important question as litzdog says is whether you can receive channels over the air at all in your location 82009. According to the various signal maps, it's a difficult area. Do any of your neighbors have an OTA antenna, it's probably a fairly large outdoor one? In a location like yours, a mile or two can have a big impact in terms of TV reception.

We are able to receive off air stations with our antenna connected to the TV We just have to switch inputs. The only thing that the last two technicians I spoke to could think of since it would not allow me to order it through directv.com is to go through winegard.com and order their antenna which he said would be the same thing.... In my email confirmation it does say local channel access from my original sign up on directv.com from that option that I chose. Supposedly, We should be able to have it sent to us because the system says that we are eligible for it but once they go to place the order it says we're not in an eligible market.
