Local on the 8's Not Updating
I contacted Weather Channel directly about this problem, which many people are having. I was told that Direct TV was working on the issue. However, the fact it's been out for several weeks now, leads me to believe that it's a contract discrepancy between the two.

If it were a contract discrepancy then they would have said so. A technical issue is just that, no matter how long it has been going on. Unfortunately there is no ETA on the fix. With other tasks, including the migration to the new co-owner taking over most operations for DirecTV, perhaps it doesn't have the highest priority.
