Loss of Doldy Digital audio when pause is used
While watching a recorded program which has Dolby Digital audio, if I pause the program long enough for the DirecTV screen saver to be invoked, when I resume the program the audio is now stereo. To get DD audio to return to the recorded program I have to change to a live channel and then go back to the recorded program. That's easy enough to do with the 'previous channel' button but should not be necessary. It appears that the DVR audio decoder gets locked into PCM (stereo audio output) when it invokes the advertising screen saver.

Same problem here, tried to Tweet them (Reset is not the answer).
We just need a way to disable the screen saver. Tired of it messing with surround sound receiver.

Just adding my name to the list. Done a full hardware replacement due to this problem to only find it was still there. Once I came across a couple of forums talking about the issue I tested and sure enough Directv, with their ad pause screensaver is breaking our service.

Oh I think there is plenty of post, comments repeating the same things about this issue. It's been made clear the problem.

Another way to re-engage Dolby if you forget and Pause to long is Press INFO, go to AUDIO/VIDEO and select Dolby again. Yes Dolby is on and will show that way but by pressing it will force it to engage again.
I am getting better at just exiting the show. :) I need to try the Previous Button that will take me out of the current show and then back into it to see if that will also work.
Should be a quick fix for DTV, Remove the silent video ads. What does that actually gain for them, nothing.

10-4, @teetertotter.
Oops, I just noticed in the original post I misspelled Dolby. Maybe that confused Directv?
Their "trouble shooting steps" show they don't understand the problem. Cables are not the problem, remote controls are not the problem.
Sheesh.

@spartaa :
Using "previous" works for me. 2 button pushes and it's all good.
A little more info:
I have an app for controlling my Marantz AVR. I don't use it for that but it also tells me what the AVR is doing. All my gear is remotely located.
Watching recorded program, app indicates audio = Dolby Digital.
Screen saver invokes, app indicates Dolby PL II immediately.
Resume recorded program, app indicates audio= stereo.
Over to you directv tech support.

@kps same here, Marantz, Rack ect...
The only reason I still have it net connected is I use a program on an ipad to control everything. I plan on testing blocking external net access to hopefully keep net control as I read that if no external net then you only get the dancing logo no ads no issues.
I don't use ondemand.

After struggling for months with this issue I found out by pure luck that going in the DIRECT TV receiver MENU>Settings>Audio>Dolby Audio and selecting it to OFF solved the problem.
Then I tried several times to pause the programs recorded and live and it is working fine all the times.
For me the problem is solved.
Sorry to say that Consumer support was useless.
I hope that Direct TV will solve the issue with a software update if possible.
