Lost NFL channel?!?!

You would have to have the choice package or above for the NFL network or you could probably add it on but you would have to pay extra for it!

The NFL Network has never been part of the Entertainment package. It has required Choice or above. If you have the NFL Sunday Ticket, and in Entertainment or lower, then you get the NFL Network during the season only. Historically, Entertainment had 4 sports channels (ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, Pursuit) that were not in Select (and the only channel difference for the $10 more you paid between those packages).

And of course, whenever DirecTV does a free preview week of a higher package (commonly the Xtra level) for all customers, then you have the channel during that time. Not unheard of for a consumer to still have some additional channels after the preview ends if the authorizations didn't refresh correctly. But eventually it catches up.

There is no option to add NFL Network by itself. Choice and up or NFL Sunday Ticket (season dates only) are the only ways for us consumers to add it to our service.

That was the only reason I stuck with Directv. After they dropped my access to nfl channel without letting me know, I’m ready to drop them. Their remaining stations like Motor trend are always reruns. Hgtv is mostly reruns or uninteresting shows. Hallmark two channels I still like, but I can pay a cheaper subscription fee. The only thing Directv has going for it is recording and replay. The value of the product keeps going down with the advent of steaming options.

DTV has no control over what a channel does with their programing.

So I should call NFL network because they were the ones who took the channel off my Directv channels. Funny last week I had it ( had it for over 3 years) and now they are telling me to order it from Directv. That tells me Directv removed it from my available channels not NFZL network.

DTV has no control over Motor tend or HGTV sending reruns. As stated before you may have gotten NFL network with the NFL Sunday Ticket which DTV lost.

The NFL Sunday Ticket is no longer with DirecTV. The NFL decided to go with a streaming option through YouTube (problem for customers who cannot get good internet or at all, especially rural).

DirecTV still has the NFL Channel in Choice and up as they have always had.

Since we are before start of season, this has nothing to do with the Sunday Ticket as wouldn't give you the channel pre-season. What is your exact package? What happens when you go to the channel?

The channel 212 used to show when in guide mode. This week it stopped showing. Just showed 212-1 whatever that is. When I key 212, it takes me to an screen to order, scan a two dimensional barcode or instructions on how to reset the Directv box if was already getting the channel. It also told me to go to channel 721 which I never had. When I entered 721, it took me to some baseball game selection channels. Weird. I guess I’m going to look for NFL network cost to stream. Not much left on Directv that I’m interested in.  I find most of what I watch I’m using a streaming provider.

You seem to be basing everything on the assumption that the NFL Channel was taken away. The channel is still with DirecTV in the same options, other than the NFL Sunday Ticket went away (which doesn't matter as it is still before the start of the season).

Was that CHANNEL 721 or ERROR 721?

Channel 721 is professional sports which would not be doing anything for NFL as it is not only pre-season but DirecTV doesn't have NFL Sunday Ticket.

Error 721 is a "not subscribed" error. Assuming you have the right package, then that would mostly likely be a simple authorization error. You can refresh service authorizations yourself at www.directv.com/refresh but if the website has any issues (updates from the new co-owner) then you can call to do so. Might have to do a red button reset of your boxes as well so everything syncs up.

But again what is the exact name of your programming package. Want to make sure everything lines up to begin with.

Sometimes when there are overlapping games from different leagues, a sports channel may have sub-channels. So that would be like 212-1, 212-2. During that time the channel is providing more than one feed at the same time.

Does this mean those at the Entertainment level will get the NFL network during the season this year?  Maybe this was written before the removal of NFL Sunday Ticket.

Thank you for the clarification.  Unfortunately the solution to getting back part of what I had last year is to pay more money so I will be looking at other avenues. 

It's been mentioned that this channel has not been "taken" from Entertainment level users but that is exactly what is happening.

As stated before it never was in the Entertainment channel package. You get it if you had the NFL Sunday Ticket.

As the clarification was in referencing the NFL Sunday Ticket, then it no longer applies. It was referring to the old rule which may explain why since users don't understand why the channel is no longer working.

So now it is just Choice and above. Lower packages don't get it a Sunday Ticket is gone.
