MLB Extra Innings

We signed up for MLB Extra Innings because it stated no games would be blacked out.  However, the only team and games (St. Louis Cardinals) we wanted to watch were blacked out in Oklahoma City.

We were able to view the games on MLB Mix but not on their designated channels.  After two plus hours on the phone with Directtv's technical support, they were unable to resolve the issue.

FYSA, we purchased the NHL package and have had zero issues with watching games and teams we enjoy watching.

We have cancelled MLB Extra Innings and are now in discussions with Dish Network and Cox Cable to switch our services to them.

No professional sports can say there will be no blackouts.

The seasonal subscription is for out-of-market games. You would need to check www.directv.com/rsn to verify what is in-market. If in-market then if you are in Choice or above you watch on your RSN, or in some cases on a local channel (as they sometimes get the rights to a specific game).

Also keep in mind that MLB has unique blackout rules for weekend games. FOX has rights for Saturday afternoon games, and ESPN has Sunday night.

Dish and Cox cannot help you with this as no TV provider controls those blackouts. They are set by the sports leagues, MLB in this case.

Blackout rules are controlled by MLB, not Directv. Now it is possible Directv messed up and blacked out something that should not have been blacked out but if it was properly blacked out, it would be blacked out on Dish and Cox also. Moving your service to either likely won’t change anything. All Cardinals games thus far have been on Bally Sports, so if it was properly blacked out, it should have been available on your Bally Sports regional channel. I know the regional channel for OKC does occasionally carry Cardinals games because I’ve watched them when visiting.  If you don’t have a package that gets a regional sports channel, that’s your issue, not the blackout rules.
