my yellow, white and red (video imputs) on the back of my tv stop working

i brought this AV To HDMI-compatible Scaler Adapter HD Video Composite Converter. i can't get it to work. has anyone had a problem like this. i think lightning struck my tv because the day before i heard a pop on the roof. then everything went haywire. my house phone ,computer  and tv went out for awhile . when i got them back working my video imputs on the back of my tv will not work now. the red, white and yellow cords is what i use for my dvd recorder. can anyone help me.
