Need to go back to standard resolution from HD with a Genie receiver

Have an issue with my Genie receiver.  Some channels are being obstructed and I get an error message to view in standard format.  The problem is it takes a long time to get this message to make the switch.  Can I make this change using the remote?   I tried changing the resolution but that does not work.    Are there methods to get this option to switch back to standard for a particular channel?

You need to have the dish moved or aligned.  Don't know if this still works but pressing and holding the EXIT button will toggle between SD/HD

Menu > Settings & Help > Settings > Display > Guide HD Channels. There you can switch between "Hide SD Duplicates", "Hide HD Channels", or "Show All Channels".

That will only be a temporary solution. Getting such an error usually means you are getting poor signal (misaligned dish, physical obstruction, weather, etc.) as that affects HD first being a tighter beam.

Wonder how long we will have the option. Though DirecTV is shutting down the MPEG-2/SD-only feeds, the MPEG-4 (that all HD boxes use) does carry some SD still. It is unknown when the SD versions of the channels would go away completely.
