New info pages are rolling out for DIRECTV satellite customers

DIRECTV satellite customers will start seeing an upgraded browsing experience that makes finding what to watch a whole lot easier.

We’re introducing a new, structured Series Info Page, along with updated templates for Episodes and Movies, designed to bring everything together in a cleaner, more organized way.

What this means for satellite viewers:

  • Easier season browsing
  • Clearer episode and movie details
  • Faster access from the menu, guide, or search
  • Jump back into your favorite shows with fewer clicks

It’s all about spending less time hunting and more time watching. Keep an eye out as the experience continues to roll out.

We began rolling this out a week ago, and it's still making its way to everyone, @gregeusa. You can definitely access the series page using these steps:

  • Press INFO on your remote while in the Guide.
  • Search for the show and press OK.
  • Check the TV Shows section in the Menu.

Heads up: we know the 'Cast & Crew' info is currently missing and we’re working on getting that fixed! Charles, DIRECTV Community Team

Where do we find this? Is there a series page? Love to at least start looking for this!

With this update you've made the recording/dvr more difficult to navigate/watch/delete. Bring back the all recordings list!

The latset update to the DTV Satellite "Recordings library" is HORRIBLE, this new UI is very cumbersome and difficult to navigate. I am sure that you are receiving MANY complaints about this supposed upgrade. Please explain to me why I (We) should continue your service if it looks and works like a ROKU or other streaming services.

I (We) could just stop paying you and switch to them or some other service.

This is NOT a "smooth viewing experience" as stated above.

I KNOW that if you can update the system with this UI, you can also add a UI OPTION.

Also, I don't appreciate the added RENT/PURCHASE views included with this new "Recordings library" UI, also something that should be an OPTION. I understand that increased revenue is the driving factor, but OPTIONS, are a way to keep existing revenue.

As DTV Satellite continues to lose customers, I don't understand why you would not listen to the existing long term customer base, (myself almost 30 years), unless you just don't care.

There are lots of options available.

Rodney

P.S. Even trying to send this post has been made more difficult, presumably to deter complaints.

Your answer is not any response.  IT IS NOT EASIER OR BETTER TO USE AND IS HATED BY EVERYONE.

There are several complaints about this update with many valid points. However, it is not hated by "everyone". Criticism goes nowhere when one exaggerates claiming to speak for all.

At what point did I state "hated by everyone"? Is this your narrative, to change what people state to suit your agenda? I have read several of your reply posts and you definitely don't get the point customers are trying to make. All you seem to do is rehash the DTV opinion that Y'all are right and we customers are wrong.

Good business sense, the customer is always wrong. That will keep them paying for service.

@Rodneylongjr

If you would take the time to read the other posts:

IT IS NOT EASIER OR BETTER TO USE AND IS HATED BY EVERYONE.

I am sorry for not using the mention causing confusion. It was directed at the last poster right before me.

I am not saying DirecTV is right and we customers are wrong. My point was to speak for one's own issues, not to speak for others. Criticism is welcome, I just politely suggest it be done in realistic manner.

I'm not "EVERYONE", but the latest update "DOES" in fact (Edited per community guidelines). It ends up recording the program, and filling up My Library, when I just wanted watch to the program. Even if I just watch the first three minutes to see if I even want to watch the program. I get it. People don't like change even if many times it is for the better. But this update wasn't.
Sincerely,
Dissapointed.

Fair enough. We certainly want changes to be better. If they are not, whether a problem for many or is not a good fit for a few, letting DirecTV know it is an issue for you is the way to go.

Thank you for doing so in a mature and logical manner. Just wanted to say as too often I see people react without thinking and with a lot of toxicity. So nice to see criticism that keeps it civil.

The new info page is not easier to use and it take more clicks to get the information you want/need-series and episodes in the series, also the large tiles showing the episodes is not cleaner and easier to read compared to the nice clean list it previously had, along with the info about weather you already have the episode recorded in not clear. The "other showings" button is missing and I used that all the time. It's not very clear if you've hit the record button and it actually took, some tiny message at the very bottom is not easier to read, and lastly it does not show "watch now" anymore if you already have it DVR'd. Overall the new format is just not what I would consider and "upgrade" if anything I think of it as more work to find what was previously clean and easily seen. Please change it back, I pay over $200.00 a month and one of the thing I use on an almost daily basis is not making me crazy....

I have to second harper69..

useful features removed

harder to use

waste of screen space with oversized pictures

With a huge installed base, I have never seen DTV ask any user what they think of a new feature...

So now instead of having the info on Directv, we now have to go to Google to find out info about shows.  Its now TOO little info to be useful.
