previous channel bug
Just got the update for the new interface. The first thing I noticed is that pressing previous channel or exit on the remote while watching a recording does not necessarily return to the current live channel. Rather it goes to the channel that first appears when the Genie (HR44) is turned on, not the current live channel. If I want to check a baseball game while watching a recored movie, the only way this works is if I first turn to the game, turn the Genie off and on, and then watch the movie. Is this a known bug?

I can’t believe your team ruined the previous channel function of all things. It’s been around since remotes were invented essentially.
As others have said this makes watching a recording and flipping back to another program that’s paused, impossible without jumping through various hoops.
Are there any updates!?

I chatted with DirecTV and was told:
There is some technical glitch not to worry it will resolve automatically.
I was then told to unplug the tower and plug back in.
It will reset please check after sometime it will resolve automatically.
Two days later...it has not resolved automatically.

DirectTV please fix this its a huge problem and my main way I use the device so I can watch recorded programs why the live channel buffers up to it 1.5Hr max of cashed live TV program. I may have to switch to other options if this cant be restored to the way its been for over 10 years.

Oddly enough the Varmus workaround does work...
I found a workaround:
Turn on to channel A.
Switch to channel B.
Switch to DVR recording.
Press up channel or down channel -> Channel B.
Pres Prev -> DVR.
Up or down channel -> B.
etc
It takes some getting used to, but it works. With luck this will get fixed by the end of the decade.

How long are we going to have to wait for this fix Direct TV? Your product is much more expensive that’s your competitors, you can at least fix your mistakes. Please reply, this is very annoying

Here is the workaround I've been using that works for me. While watching a recording, instead of pressing Previous, press Exit. That takes me back to live TV. Then press Previous to get back to the recording.

Jims method works. So does putting it on the channel you want to watch Live, turn off the dvr, turn it back on, play your dvr’ed program and last channel will take you back to your Live channel.

Hi, @Varmus. We're still working on a resolution to fix the issue. We don't have a specific date, but it should be resolved by the end of November. Thank you for your patience. Roland, DIRECTV Community Specialist

I found that if you go from live tv, the go to dvr list and go to the show you want to watch. When you want to go back to live tv, hit exit. It should go back to the correct live show. Then hit previous and it should go back to dvr show. Then exit again to go back to live. Easiest thing I have found.
