@Yogi55, we are happy to help with your Direct TV and app connection.
As @Peds48, suggested to
If you have a genie HD DVR(HR44 or later), you can register your device to your receiver(s) to stream live channels and access your DVR playlist. To register, make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your receiver and:
Tips: If you have trouble registering your device, confirm access to external device on your receiver. Go to Settings>Whole-Home>External Device>External Access>Allow.
If you don't have a Genie HR44! No worries Learn more about Genie DVR options.
Let us know if you have further questions.

Thanks, I tried the below recommendation, no change
I do have a genie and it was set up to download and watch on my IPad and was working until the latest app upgrade.
I can see all of my receivers from each other, so Whole- Home network must be working. The app just can find any of the receivers even though they show up under receivers available on your network, with all red dots. I can validate a receiver and then it goes back to red on next app startup.

Let's continue troubleshooting @Yogi55.
Have you removed the app and then reinstalled it back? Cleared cookies and cache?
Did you confirm your devices are connected to the same network as your receiver for device registration?
Have you reset your receivers? Many issues can be fixed by resetting and reauthorizing your receivers.

thanks here is feedback on recommendations:
Have you removed the app and then reinstalled it back? Cleared cookies and cache? Yes no change
Did you confirm your devices are connected to the same network as your receiver for device registration? Receiver is hardwired and IPad is connected via WiFi to the same router. Also this all worked before latest app upgrade.
Have you reset your receivers? Many issues can be fixed by resetting and reauthorizing your receivers. Yes no change
FYI iPhone is behaving the same after latest app upgrade

In the meantime, please check if your iPad has any software update available. If there is a software update available for your device, update it to the latest software available.

I have only two devices a Ipad and Iphone and both have the latest software released for them and they both both behave the same after upgrading the Direct TV app to the latest release this week. Before this there was no issue on both devices. Can you send me a later version of the Direct TV app to see if that fixes the issues

They can’t send you an earlier version and even if they could, how would you install it? I was going to say no issue on my devices but it looks like I don’t yet have the latest update and I’m not going to force the update to find out.

We want you to get back to watching your favorite programming @Yogi55!
Although we are unable to send you versions of the DIRECTV app, you can double check 'Settings' and receive information on the current version
Keep us posted on how it goes!

Yes I would recommend that you do not upgrade the app until they resolve this issue.

I am seeing the same problem, both on an iPad and on an iPhone. But I can't specifically tie when it started to an app update. I did see three app updates about a month ago, currently running 5.25.504 on the iPad and 5.25.502 on the iPhone.
Same behavior on both devices. App reports no receivers found but the receiver (HR54) appears with a red dot on the iPad and is greyed out on the iPhone. I can manually enter the IP address and validate successfully on either device and the app connects to the receiver. But it disappears again if the app is closed and restarted.
I've tried all of the suggestions above, none corrected the problem.
Is there an update to the status of this problem? Is it it something that was brought about by an app update or something else? Is there a app update in the works to correct the problem?
